NEWPORT RACE TRACK PLAN TAKES SHAPE New York August IS Local racing men are taking a great interest in the Newport R L rac ¬ ing venture Tlie ground is being held under an op ¬ tion tionIt It is proposed to open the new track next season Besides the aristocratic racing element at Newport said to be behind the present plans wealthy New York and eastern state business men are declared to be supporting the proposition although the latter have never been known to be racing men They have declared however that a properly condiictwl racing establishment would not be objected to by Rhode Island authorities
