The latter began slowly and was out- run for the first half, but ctosed a big gap and finished gamely under punishment. Claiborne was a forward and game contender all the way, but lost ground when entering the homestretch, where he went wide. Desperado ran a good race and finished gamely. Coatcutter was pulled up at the start and then ran under a pnll all the way. The winner was entered for C0: no bid. Overweights The Earl. 4 pounds. Montbert set the early pace, but was tiring at the end and driving to the limit to stall off Muck Rake. The latter ran surprisiugly well. Debar closed a big gap. Throw out AVaterburys race.
