USE OF EQUIPMENTS REGULATED. San Francisco. Cal., November 24. As a result ot tlie act of a valet in providing jockey Sweet with a whip on Jeanne dArc contrary to the .wishes and Instructions of trainer Rolla Colston of the For-sythe Stable, Presiding Judge Hopper took measures to Insure greater care In the carrying out of the rules regarding the equipment of the horses wltb whips, spurs and blinkers while racing over the Oakland track. Trainers will henceforth be required to show consistency In the use of any and all of the equipments enumerated. Jeanne dArc never felt the sting of a whip in a race until Sweet gave her a cut in Saturdays valuable handicap. In which she finished second to Fltz Herbertl The "filly swerved badly under the punishment, and trainer Colston believes that she would liave at least been closer up to the winner but for the unauthorized use of the wliip. He was considerably stirred up over the matter and filed a complaint with Judge Hopper, in consequence of which an official order was issued designed to prevent a repetition of the occurrence.
