DEEMS NEW ORLEANS RACING DEAD. New Orleans. La.. April IO. "In my opinion there will Im- no racing here next year, nor will there be anv attempt to operate either of the big tracks until the general public sli/ows that thev want racing here.- This is the opinion of John Ilachrneister. formerly connected with the Fair Crounds track and generally known as tin- linancial agent of the Cella brother-. Mr. HachiueistcT has been fishing over near Mobile, and he came over to see J. B. Harrison, who is seriously ill. Continuing, he said: •Tlie sliites highest court lias ruled that the Locke law is valid, and we will abide bv it and make no attempt at racing. I believe that a Bhori racing eeaeea with races of the liiglie-t class would be a big attraction for New Orleans." Mr. Hal lam later eaaahaaiaad "short season." He added: "Possibly racing Was overdone here."
