LIVELY AT FAIR PIMLICO HORSES POURING IN FROM ALL DIRECTIONS FOR THE INAUGURAL EASTERN MEETING, Garth Horses Good and Likely To Be Prominent — Juggler in Tip Top Form — Trance and Statesman to Meet. Baltimore. Mil.. April 20.— With the opening of the Pimlico meeting only a few days away, the Maryland Jockey Clubs course presents a scene of unusual activity. Ilor-es are pouring in from all directions and stable room is at a premium. Boh Walden. M. Daly. E. Patera, Preston Batch and the rest of the New York delegation arrived today. The greaiest and beat collection of horses ever seen at the old course will be on hand when the bugle blows next Saturday. The horses generally are in a forward condition and the racing will be good from the starJ. It had been generally predicted that the horses which had wintered at Baltimore and Benning would have the best of it. but the New York contingent has shown up in such excellent condition as to shake that belief and now the prophets are a little bit doubtful about the matter. The track at Pimlico is in the finest possible condition — better than for years — and if good weather continues, new track records are bound to be made. Yesterday was an ideal work day and with a fast track the horsemen were out In full force. Most of them cantered their charges, but now and then a fast move was indulged in. Billv Garth had his big string on the track and sent Red Kiver three-quarters in 1:15, Mr. Garth makes no secret of the fact that he intends to win with this colt. The Garth two-year-olds were out and had stiff work. The Monk, a black gelding by Fatherless Elisa Rrssell. worked a half in 401 and did it very handily. The 1nsightly filly, which has been a little under the weather of late, worked a good three-eighths in S7j. This filly is thought to be the best of tin-Garth youngsters. Theodore Coles had his horses out ami sent Juggler a mile in 1 :4B. The veteran. Bobbie Kean. stepped along a mile ill 1:44!. Bobbie Kean is very tit and if he behaves well at the post, wilt will.
