CAHNS CHARGES HELD UNTRUTHFUL. Los Angeles. Cal.. April 20. — The stewards of the Los Angeh— Racing Association at a meeting yes teidav refused to entertain the charges of crooked racing at the Santa Anita track made bv Louis Calm, a liookmaker. on the ground that Calm h-as laal all standing in California racing circles, and that his statements are unworthy of consideration. Cahn was not luestioued and no witnesses were called. The stewards merely confined themselves to a discussion of whether Calms affidavit, alleging that certain owners and jockeys liad conspired to "fix" races, was of sufficient weight to call for a f rmal investigation. .Subsequent to lieing ruled off Calm delivered to Judge Hamilton a mess of charges against jockey Powers Kiid Shilling and several owners, alleging crooked practices. In at least one allegation touch ing Shilling and the horse. Big Chief, a date was given spei itii ally, but examination of Daily Kacing Forms records nhnwn that Big Chief was not entered in any race that day and Shilling rode the winner of the race specified. It is these charges Judge Hamilton properly refused, to entertain.
