AN EX-GELDING IN THE STUD. Go Between, a capital mce horse in his prime and winner of Hie Suburban Handicap of liMHi. has been retired lo the stud and will be known lo the track no more. In this there is a touch of humor, since he was raced as a gelding by Alex Shields and won Hie Suburban as such. Go Between is a son of Meddler — Indigo and as a two-year-old raced in the colors of the late Captain Samuel S. Brown, of Pittsburg. Sold to Thomas Kerr, he raced as the latters property when a three-year-old and from him passed into the ownership of C. F. Fox and from the latter into that of the late Alexander Shields. He raced for Fox as a gelding and continued to race as such for Shields until after he had won the Suburban. Thou rumors resulted in an invstigation which disclosed the fact that Go Be I wen is an entire horse. The incident so distressed Shields that it is said brooding over it eomlllbated in no small measure to his death. The Meddler line is a strong one and it may be that Go Between is destined to be known as the sire of racers as good as himself. His record on the track is: Year. Age. Sts. 1st. 2d. yd. Inp. Won.
