AMERICAN BETTING MONEY IN ENGLAND. New York. April 21. — A lot of money has been cabled to London in tie- la-t two w eks to be plated at the prevailing odds upon American horses shipped abroad for racing al the big English meetings. A representative of one of the financial houses in this city said thai his firm alone in the past two weeks, acting under instructions from New York bettors, had cabled more than t2S,W*J out of a total of 25,800 seal to London. He added that he was not the onlv on.- acting as betting agent for those who wish lo stake their money Upon American thor oughbreds. •Th.- whole thing is the result of the anti-gambling laws now in vogue in this state." said one of the agents. "Men who have been accustomed to wager nionev on American tracks are naturally following the thoroughbreds which have been sent to England because there is no incentive for them to race here. ■I think you will rind — in fact I know you will find — that not a few financial bonnes, having London connect ions, are handling ante-post wagers on American horses, and I should not be at all surprised if some of the American bookmakers are interested in some of the money going abroad, although I am not sure of that."
