The inajorilv opinion is that, had booktnakiug of the aU Style been permitted, the seven day meeting about to be gin would have proved the most profitable in the history of the Lexington track, but as the BaCiaiC Commission still remains steadfast in its opinion that the mutuels are the lies speculative mediums to curb the abuses of the turf, the local assm-iat ion will have to chance a deficit in the event that the patronage does not meet with the financial require. ments. Those who arc in favor of the mechanical style of betting insist that last year was a bad season to judge the availability of the mutuels on account of the drought prevalent in this section an I the general inonev stringency throughout the land. With improved conditions they feed certain that the mutuel betting will return a fair pmiit. In a racing way there can lie no doubt of the success of the meeting.
