April 20. — An excellent urogram irtoduced keen sport at Pimlico llii- afternoon. Whil« the attendance was not up in point of numbers to that of opening dav. still, the crowd was large enough to comfortably fill the double deck grand Stand and to keep the thirty layers that cut in. busy during the BfteBJMSa. As a matter of fact, speculation was even heavier than on the opening day and as three favorites ami other well backed horses won. the liooks did not lay up anything. Intervene, Juggler and De Mund were the winning choices. De Mund. at prohibitive odds, just man aged to struggle home a head in front of the Cuban campaigner. Chief Haves. The latler finished with a game stretch rush and with a stronger finisher than Tommy Ilartv ill the saddle, would have iM.iten the Rainey sprinter. At that De Mund displayed much courage and hung on gamely in the final drive, which is something unusual lor him. There was a decided Improvement in the going, although the track was not at ils beat. Despite this. Autumn Girl equaled the tra.-k i .cord for a half mile, bv running the distance iu 40. Dr. C. J. Pangritz got in from California this morning with jockey Kennedy. James Milton, who has been doing the stalling at the meeting that was held at Columbia. S c . got in this morning. The Columbia meeting, whi.ii was to have run for five days came to a esshlea close on Saturday on account of lack of patronage. A majority of the staldes that were at Columbia were shipped to Norfolk. Pat Corrigan was at Pimlico this afternoon. It was his first visit at the Maryland Jockey Clab course in years. Martin Dovlc. which was one of the three start**! . in the third race, was beaten off. This horse araa taken with catarrhal fever last fall and it left hi-wind affected. He blew quite ■ bit nhei: be paled up in todays race.
