HOUSTON MEETING OPENS PROMISINGLY. Houston. Tex.. April 2 i.— This was the opening day of the spring meeting of the Houston Racing As sociation and a large crowd was on hand to see the s| ort. The track was in excellent condition and the fields well balanced. Transform and Cooney K. were well liked in the opening dash and they went to the post heavily backed. A keen struggle resulted and the result was in doubt until the numbers were displayed. Transform winning by a slight margin. Virgie Gnaw was the oniy other favorite to score during the afternoon. A large consignment of horses arrived today from San Antonio, which, together with those that came from California, will give Secretary Deruliuni plenty of material tu furnish his daily programs.
