Jack Baker also made up ground end held on gamely through the last quarter. Red Shawl went well throughout. Nettie Traver showed speed, but tired fast in the stretch and was stumbling near the end. Jack Straw, away slowly and forced to go wide, closed a big gap and finished gamely. Banives was in deep going for the first three furlongs and tired near the end. Inferno Oueen came with a rush in the last quarter after having faltered on the turn. Marse Abe set a fast pace, stood off repealed challenges from Tom Havvvard and went Into a commanding lead in the stretch, only to tire near the end and was forced to a hard drive at the end. The Minks appeared to sulk for the first throe-quarters, hut was gaining fast at the end and would have won in a few-more strides. Tom Havvvard was caught in a lain at the start anil forced to pull up and go around, was made much use of for the first half aud tired in the stretch.
