CHARLIE EASTMAN WINS THE HANDICAP. Defeats Dainty Dame and Al Muller at Latonia — Every Favorite Beaten. Cincinnati. O.. June 4. — Favorites sustained de-teat in all six races at Latonia this afternoon, enabling the bookmakers to p-irtlally retrieve their former losses. Before race time the weather was propitious, but later a thunderstorm and showers pre Tailed. The attendance was in excess of the three preceding lavs, but speculation was only of moderate volume. Fifteen layers, in additiou to the two udders, posted prices. The handicap at three quarters of a mile, which featured the card, had only three starters, with Al Muller enjoying favoritism over Charlie Fastnian and Dainty Dante. The smart set. however, favored Charlie Eastman and he made good by winning handily from Dainty Dame. The favorite trailed the others for the entire trip and ran poorly. The stilf going was held accountable for his poor showing. The seven-furlongs race which closed the days racing, was considered to he between Tom Hayward and All Hod and speculation was virtually confined to those two. Dr. Bark ley. however, showed sudden iuipiov -incut, taking the pair into camp with apparent ease. The longest -priced winner of the afternoon was Orlandot. which led nine other cheap selling platers to the finish in the fourth race. Warner Griswdl upset a carefully planned betting coup iu the second race when be beat out Frank Stagg. The lattors connect ious backed him conti-deiitly. but he was not good enough. Because of the going. Warner Grlswcll was practically neglected in a speculative way. Cainbronne made a runaway race of the opener after forcing Banives. the favorite. Into the fence soon after the start. The boy on Banives had to pull back sharply on account of the mishap and he failed to recover the lost ground. j H. M. Zicgb-rs entire string of racers will be offered for pant by auction tomorrow iu the paddock at Latonia. James Prater, hotter known among race -goers as "Hold On Jimmy." left tonight for Ceulralia. 111., where be will do the starting during a six day meeting to be held there. Director, owned by F. Goring, is In a bad way and is not expected to survive. Bdward Cotllaaa was a visitor this afternoon. He intends shortly to take Mrs. o.rrigau to Chicago, where he holies she will fully regain her health.
