TRIBUTE TO KING EDWARDS LIBERALITY. The Canadian press is still commenting upon tlie outcome of the Epsom Derby, recently won by King Edwards Minoru. The Toronto News makes editorial allusion to the matter, and indulges in sentiments that America:] sportsmen will heartily endorse. Referring to the cheer which went up at Woodbine when announcement was made of the kings success, the News says: "It was a hearty, spontaneous cheer that meant something more than the exultation of victory. It meant joy over tlie success of the most liberal-minded sovereign who ever sat on the English throne. It meant gratification at the success of the greatest vindicator and upholder of personal liberty that the world knows. It meant congratulations to a most peace-loving, diplomatic and universally levered and loved monarch. Strangers from south of the Canadian boundary cheered equally as heartily as citizens of the country. They, too, recognize in King Edward VII. the loftiest, tbe most pungent and mi st forcible champion of individual liberty. It was not the speed of tbe colt that was paid tribute to, but the grace of the owner. It is safe to say that .oil bless him was on more lips and in more hearts for the King of Ireat Britain and Ireland. Emperor of India and lord of his domain beyond the seas on that day than bad simultaneously ever been for any man in the world. It would be well if so magnificent and illustrious a bulwark of our liberties and our lives could live and reign forever."
