HAMILTON HAS RECORD-BREAKING CROWD. Creel Takes the Tuckett Stakes from Centre Shot in Hotly Contested Finish. Hamilton. Ont., June 20.— The largest gathering that ever witnessed a race run over the Hamilton Jockey Clubs course turned out this afternoon. The crowd packed every available bit of space on Hie grounds. Intense heat robbed the sport of much or its pleasure. The suns rajs were fiercely hot and the layers found their lot especially uni-oinfortahlc Half a dozen persons were overcome by the heat on the lawns where the layers assemble. The program was one of the best ever provided here, and certainly the best of the meeting. Besides the luckett Selling Stakes there were offered as attractions the Ontario Handicap, at six furlongs, iu which some of the best sprinters on the ground went to the post: the Burlington Handicap Steeplechase, winch called for a journey over the full course, and two races that were run over the grass course. Twenty-seven horses went to the post iu the last two races, while nine started in the stake. The latter proved a rousing contest, in which Creel came from behind in the stretch to beat Centre Shoe out at the end of a gruelling drive. Creel was an eirual favorite with Uuy Fisher in the race. Bead M0 1:4SJ Bellwether proved something of a surprise by winning the Ontario Handicap in ruuawav fashion. Red River, the odds-on favorite, finished third. The Chinn stable furnished the winner in the fifth race in The Golden Butterfly, which won only after a strenuous linish. in which she beat Fair Louise by a neck. Walter O. Parmer, who has been spending a few days with his friend. Oaaaan M. llendrie. iu Hamilton, lelt tonight for New York to attend the sale of his Etlenwohl Stud yearlings next week. Mr. Parmer considers this years crop the best that his farm has. ever produced and pronounces the sister to Notasulga the best looking yearling that ever left Tennessee. Joseph A. Murphy, presiding steward, today announced that recent races of the horses, Moouraker and Pagan Bey. had been under Investigation and as j result of the evidence obtained, the stewards feel warranted in recommending that the further entries of Pagan Bey and Moouraker be refused. This means that the horses are barred from participating . ""y -ot V meetings held under the jurisdiction ol the Canadian Racing Associations. L. Marion, acting for the St. James Stable, protested payment of the purse won yesterday by Juggler on the ground that the horse did not carry his proper weight. Marions claim was found to be well founded and Juggler was disqualified and the purse awarded to Woolwinder.
