NOTES OF THE TURF. Cottyto ran away two miles while being exercised at Sheepshead Lay Friday. Jockey Archibald was reinstated yesterday by the stewards of the Ogden meeting. Peter Wimrner predicts that Alfred Noble will develop into one of the best stayers on the New York track by fall. William Haves, who left this country last winter to train the Bonnie Drunk Stable in France, has returned to America. John Pollock, better known on the turf as "Johnny Boost." died recently at Huntington. W. Va.. and was buried in Detroit. Irving II. Wheatcroft heads the list of winning owners at the Victoria meeting thus far and jockey Brooks is the leading rider. It is said that R. II. Davis, for whom A. G. Blakeley has trained with considerable success, intends to dispose of his horses. The Sheepshead Bay rack is in such shape that horsemen look for the breaking of the American mile record before the present meeting closes. Jockey MeCullnngh was suspended at Oklahoma City Friday for the remainder of the meeting on account of an unsatisfactory ride on Doc Allen. Dan Sullivan, who had charge of the horses left at iiOS Angeles by Earl Linnell. committed suicide at Santa Anita Park a few days ago. Sullivan was an old turfman. Little Kings inability to carry his speed over any considerable distance is due to bad kuees. Trainer Preston Burch has found this a source of constant trouble with the Kingston gelding. George .T. Long. Major T. J. Carson. Garrett Wilson and Elliot Cowdin are among the Kentucky breeders who have put in an appearance at New York incidental to the thoroughbred sales soon to begin at Sheepshead Bay. Ethelbert. the sire of Fitz Herbert, is now standing at August Belmonts stud near Dieppe, la France. Morganatic, his dam. was bred by tl:e late Pierre Lori.liird at Rancocas Farm in New Jersey. She Is now seventeen years old. Sir John Jolinson has been added In the schooling list at Sheepshead Bay. Heretofore the Isldor horse was on his good behavior when in the starters hands, but lately Mr. Cassidys assistants have had their hands full to control the big horse. The price for which Captain E.
