Sanctus, reserved far rearward for the first mile, moved up to still distant, but nearest, pursuit in the second mile, then challenged when beginning the last half and appeared a certain winner midwav of the stretch, but succumbed finally unexpectedly. Grandpa, well up on sufferance for the first mile, dropped to the rear when the real racing began. Pretty Michal was prominent for a mile. Lord Stanhope raced with Berkeley so fast for the first five furlongs that U.tb quit badly. Berkeley showed great speed, but tailed to stay "and found the track too bard, probably. Danger trailed to the stretch and was gainiug at the end. Iearl Point showed brief speed. The winner, entered for ,4 0, was bid up to .!M0 and bought in.
