MRS. LIVINGSTONS CANADIAN STUD. Toronto, Out., September 3. Pontiac Stock Farm, owned by Mrs. L. A. Livingston, is located about two and a half miles east of the town of Cobourg and consists of several hundred acres of choice land. Mrs. Livingston is busy supervising the remodeling of tlie buildings, which include a large brick residence on tlie premises and when this work is completed the result will lie one of the best farms of the kind in Canada. Just now the principal stock is a band of thoroughbred broodmares and foals. These mares were brought to this country early in the year, so that they might foal here to make their produce eligible for the Kings Plate and other races for Province-lireds. It will not be surprising if a Plate winner should come from tills establishment in the near future, as the mares are a grandly bred lot. Many of them have already produced winners, and this years crop of foals are by some of Americas leading sires. The youngsters are all well made and have all the earmarks of good ones. They are developing rapidly, as they enjoy the pure, fresh breezes that sweep in from Lake Ontario, and the grass is luxurious. The hilly nature of the fields through which they roam also has a tendency to develop their muscles and increase their growth. Stanhope II. is tins only stallion at the farm this season, but other noted stallions will be transferred there later on from Mrs. Livingstons Rancocas Farm in New Jersey. Already several new stables have been constructed containing large box stalls, well ventilated for the housing of the stock, and it is Mrs. Livingstons intention to make further additions in tills direction. Besides the thoroughbreds there is a band of Shetland pony mares roaming the spacious fields and they form a beautiful picture as they graze along a hillside or in a fertile valley.
