A LEADER OF OTHER DAYS. Tlie racing establishment of Green B. Morris, one of the veterans of the American turf, now consists of but oiie horsey the selling plater Worklox. Not so many years ago Mr. Morris trained and controlled one of the jnost pretentious racing stables in the country. His tirst notable horse was Mintzer, and then, in rapid succession, followed the Kentucky Derby winner, AjmiIIo, Fellow Play, Goldberg, Drake Carter and Bersan. He won the American Derby with Stralhmealh, winner of fifty-nine races and 14.03S. Then there was Judge Morrow, with Which he won the Brooklyn Handicap and thirty-eight other races, representing a total of 7,213. He won forty-nine races and $."4.7G0 with Favor and Sombrero, while Star Ruby. Pupil, Cunard. Ada Niiy, General Stone. Knight Templar, Rena I?, and Tipstaff were all frequent and brilliant winners in his colors. It is reckoned that horses trained and raced by Mr. .Morris won nearly a million dollars on the turf, and in the heyday of liis prosperity he had a following second to no trainer in tlie land. Mr. Morris, out of sheer love for the turf, probably will continue to race in a modest way, as long as his health and strength will permit.
