LOUISVILLE SHIPMENTS FOR LEXINGTON. Louisville, Ky., April 17. The Downs and Douglas Park courses were decidedly Improved yesterday. Many horses were worked for speed over both tracks. Tlie best work was at tlie Downs, where C. C. Van Meter sent Tlie Fad five-eighths in 1:0:!. Colston and Mud Sill, Derby candidates, worked nicely. Colston cantered live-eighths in 1:0S. and Mnd Sill went three-quarters in 1:22. pulling up, the first half in .11. Other work-outs Included: Kye White Three-quarters in 1:20. Princess Callaway Half mile In 553. Spindle Five-eighths in 1 :0S. Upright Quarter mile in 27. W. II. Shelley, secretary of the Lexington meeting, was at the Downs yesterday securing a list of the horses that will be sent to Lexington for the meeting opening April 29. -George M. Odoni will ship Upright, The Pippin and Ben Lasca. James Gass will send Syzygy and Sliapdale. Theodore Ahadic will take Falcada and three others. Henry McDaniel will scud nine, including Polls, which will probably start in the Camden Handicap. C. C. Van Meter will hare The Fad and live others. William Phillips will have Topland and Henry Walbank. Gerst and Holle will send three: Pat Dunne six, including Sebago; L. Kelly, La U Mexican and two others: D. Lehau, Sir Catesby and two others; J. K. Wainwright. Al Muller, Royal Captive. Indian Maid. Gypsy King and May Bride: W. St. Vincent, two; J. II. Meade, three, including Cha-pultcpec and John Louis. Raleigh Colston will send one horse, his namesake, to start in the Camden Handicap. This horse is an eligible for the Kentucky Derby. All of the barns at the Kentucky Association track have been painted and fumigated. Secretary Shelley has arranged for stable room for the overflow, having engaged the Tattcrsall barns. W. G. Yanke will not send any of the horses he has here to Lexington, consequently Bound the World will make her 1011 debut in Kentucky when she goes to the post in the Kentucky Derby May I."!. The reason Yauke is not sending any racers to Lexington is that he and his jmrtner, Col. W. E. Applegate, hare a string there in the hands of C. T. Patterson, two of which are tlie speedy three-year-olds. Incision and Swish. This lot will be brought to the Downs when the Lexington meeting closes. George H. Peters is working well for his trainer at the Downs. This colt is attracting attention because he is the only youngster sired by Colonel Jim Douglas. He is out of Trixie C. and showed well in his early trials. George M. Odom will not take Follie Levy to Lexington, as her sole slake engagement there is a mile race. lie does not want to rush her in her preparation, but will have her ready for the Inaugural scramble on Derby day. Trance will make her 1011 appcarauce in a race in Kentucky in the Inaugural. John C. Ferriss had shipped to him today from Nashville the three-year-olds General Phillips and Permelia. and the four-year-olds. Shorty, Hams and Corzo. He has taken up his old lumper, St. Volnia, which with Bettie Sue, Ada O. Walker and Administer, will give him a string of eight. Corzo has not raced since the first Juarez Derby, which was won in 1910 by German Silver. St. Volnia has not raced for a year. Mr. Ferriss former old partner. J. G. Greener, has but two horses in training, and .T. W. May lias them in charge. They are Countless and a two-year-old by My Boy Ocany. Mr. Greener has but one yearling, a colt by Ivan the Terrible. Wayne Joplln arrived from Alabama, where he has been hunting since the close of racing at Jacksonville. Jockey N. Kennedy came today from West Baden Springs. He will ride at Lexington. "Tex" Foreman is here from Florida and the Knebclkanip racers trained by .Mr. Foreman will come tomorrow. The string embraces Attentive, Outpost and Motherkins. Tim old plater. St. Ilario, is in training for the first time since last fail. George J. Long will send six: horses to Lexington, chiefly two-year-olds. Before leavlug "Mexico .T. O. Ferriss sold to a Texas breeder tlie five-year-old mare, Civita. She will be retired. Sparkling was the work of the horses In training at Churchill Downs and Douglas Park this morning. Two maiden Kentucky Derby candidates worked impressively. One was Mud Sill, half-brother to Pinkola, in AV. H. Fixers stable, and the other was Colston, in Raleigh Colstons bam. The latter went the first half in 4SJ. running the first quarter in 24. and galloped out the mile in 1:49. Mud Sill worked a mile in M. He went the half in 50J, Hre-eightiis in 1:03;, three-quarters in 1:17. and sercn-eighths in 1:301. .Mud Sills time was diqtlicated by tlie Derby candidate. Sir Dawn, in C. C. Van Meters stable.
