KEEN INTEREST IN FOUR-MILE RACE. Lexington, Ky.. April 17. Secretary W. H- Bid-well of -the Kentucky State Racing Commission is having printed the entry blanks for the Kentucky Endurance Stakes, the four-mile race that is to be run at one of the tracks in this state next fall, and will login mailing them this week. The subscriptions are to close June 1 and subscribers are to name three horses each by July 15. Secretary Bidwcll lias received a number of Inquiries for blanks and other information relative to the race, among which is a letter from a broker in Louisville who is not now an owner of race horses. He asks if there is a possibility that the Kentucky State Racing Commission wouid x-einstate the horse Nadzu if he should buy him from H. Guy Bedwell, and adds: "I have not asked Mr. Bedwell to put a price on Nadzu, but if I can be assured that he will be reinstated under my ownership I will buy him and nominate him for the fouimile race next fall." Speaking of this race. J. W. May said today: "Countless will be a starter In that race, no matter where it is run. Id rather win a four-mile race with that horse than win the Kentucky Derby. One reason, the old timers say that we havent any horses nowadays that can stand the preparation and run four miles in comparison with Ten Broeck, Lex-ington, Leeomto and other horses of the old days, and that the trainers of the younger generation, arc not capable of preparing a horse for a four-mile race. I want a chance to show the patriarchs that there are a few of the boys who can do the trick with as much finesse as could they and their daddies." Countless is going along well at the Kentucky Association track. His first engagement is in the Phoenix Hotel Handicap, at one mile and a sixteenth, which will be the feature of the opening day here, a week from Saturday. Through an oversight on the part of John G. Greener, his owner, Countless was dropped out of the Camden Handicap.
