STAKES FOR TORONTO FALL MEETING. Ontario Jockey Club Announces Nino Events for Autumn Decision at Woodbine. Secretary W. P. Fraser of the Ontario Jockey Club announces a stake program for the fall meeting at Woodbine, September 2.!-.!0, that is thoroughly in keeping with the splendid reputation of Canadas foremost racing organization. Ten stakes will be decided during the seven days that the meeting will run. One will be a produce stake that closed in 1003, but the others are now open for entries and will lie closed Friday, August 4. All but three of the events will lie open to American horses as well as Canadian and are bound to attract the pick of the thoroughbreds of all ages in training in this, country. It goes without saying that the Woodbine meeting will he well worth participating in. The stakes, entries for which will close August 1, with their conditions, are as follows: Toronto Autumn Cup handicap, ,500 added: for three-year-olds and upward; by subscription of 0 each, or $.10 if declared by twelve oclock noon, cn Friday, September 22, to the winner, with ,000 added, of which 00 to second horse and 50 to third; one mile and a quarter; to he run Saturday, September 23. Dominion Handicap, ,500 added; for all ages, foaled in Canada; by subscription of 0 each, or 0 if declared by twelve oclock noon, Friday. September 22, to the winner, with ,500 added, of which u0 to second horse and 50 to third; winners after announcement to carry five pounds extra; one mile; to lie run Saturday. September 23. Seagram Cup heavyweight handicap. A challenge Cup, value ,000, with ,000 added; for three-year-olds and upward, the bona Ado property of owners resident in Canada, and the horse or horses to lie owned by the nominator prior to August 1; a challenge cup presented by James E. Seagram, to which is added a sweepstakes of 0 each, or if declared by Saturday, September 23, at noou, to the winner, and ,000 bv the Ontario Jockey Club, of which 00 to second horse and 00 to third; a heavyweight handicap: the top weight to be 140 pounds, but no horse to carry less than 100 pounds; three horses the property of different owners to start, or the race void for that year; the cup to be held for one year by the owner of the winner, and to become the absolute property of any owner winning two years in succession: weights announced Thursday, September 21; winners after publication of the same to carry, once. September 23. Heudrie Steeplechase, a challenge Cup handicap, ,000 added; for four-year-olds and upward; a challenge cup presented in memory of the late William Hendrie. by his son, Lieut. -Col. William Hendrie, to which is added the sum of ,000 hy the Ontario Jockey Club and a sweepstakes of 0 each, or 0 if declared by Thursday, September 28 at Ave p. m.. to the winner, witn 00 to second horse and 50 to third; weights announced Wednesday, September 27 at Ave p. m.; three miles: to he run Saturday, September 30. A souvenir will he presented to the rider of the winner by the Ontario Jockey Club. In addition to the foregoing list of stakes, the Stanley Produce -Stakes. ,500 added, for foals of 1908 closed March, 1008, will be run ou Wednesday. September 27. Overnight handicaps of and 00 will be run during the meeting, with purses of 1911.sh00 and 00. The lowest value of any purse will he 00. Entrance money in all cases will go to the winner. Nine steeplechases will be run during the meeting, including a steeplechase for ihree-year-olds and another for three-year-olds and maiden four and five-year-olds.
