NOTES OF THE TURF. Ben Pryor. whose father was one r the first American trainers to meet with success iu England, has purchased a three-year-old Ally named F.Ieaiiora, by Golden Garter My Mullah. Dave Loary, agent for Samuel C. Hildreths stable, made a flying trip to Slieepshead Bay from Canada the past week. It is likely that several of the Ilil-dreth horses will be shipped to the Bay for a rest. Frank Suydaiu, well known as a bookmakers sheet writer and formerly in the employ of George Rose, John Saycrs and John Duffy, died last Monday at the age of firty-four at the Jefferson Hospital in Philadelphia, where he had been a patient since October last. He was stricken with hip disease some Ave years ago and underwent several surgical operations in a vain attempt to recover his health. For more than two years he was an inmate of a Cleveland hospital. The plans of the Cour dAlene Fair and Racing Association call for a meeting of horsemen ou September 0 lo select two stewards to serve with M. D. Wright and I. L. Ilildenbraudt, Who will be appointed by the association. It is planned to have a ladies lay once each week. W. W. Finu, the .superintendent of construction, predicts that the new track will be especially easy on horses with bad feet, as well as those with weak tendons. The track, lie says, will be springy and yet not spongy.
