HORSES DOING WELL AT BLUE BONNETS. Montreal, Quo., August 2S. The stables at Blue Bonnets track are fast filling up. Many owners who have been allotted stable room have already arrived nnd will freshen up their horses for the meeting here. Every owner who has applied for stalls has been accommodated and there arc still some left for late coiners. This year the club has over- GOO stalls available, which has enabled it to look after all applicants. This meeting promises to be the best that has ever boon held over this course. The going is as nearly perfect as. it can lie, and those who have recently arrived are loud in their praises of local conditions. The walling up of the stalls on the inside is greatly appreciated and eliminates all dangers from draughts. The Belmont horses have been galloped since arriving here and will do well over the soft track. Trainer Whalen will have Flint Rock and Watervale ready to race again this fall. Mrs. L. A. Livingstons lot have improved percep-tiblv since their arrival here three weeks ago. Love-tie is the most improved of the lot. He will be at his best before opening day at Blue Bonnets. Pico-lata and Soteniia. as well as the two-year-olds, are all going along nicely. The horses of Capt. P. M. Walker, which arrived here n week ago. have all been doing well. Aspirin, which was blistered at Fort Erie, has been picked up and will race again this fall. Maxentius. the colt which was unsexed at the first meeting of the Hamilton club, is now back in active training. Baby Wolf looks well and tit. The three two-year-olds recently purchased at the Sanford sale are well up to racing. They have shown some fast trials during the past few days. One of the best strings of jumpers that will be seen this fall arc those of G. R. Tompkins, which rested here all summer. Jimmy Lane has picked up and is doing work regularly. Bello and Bigot have worked several trials of a mile in 1:47 or better and are fit. Apache, in the stable of John .7. Hyland. has gotten over his ailment and his last trial of five furlongs in 1:04 with something in reserve shows him to be ready. Now stabled at Blue Bonnets are the horses of August Belmont. Mrs. L. A. Livingston, part of the J. W. Burttschell string, part of the It. T. Wilson string, W. Walsh. Harry Shannon. James Fitzsim-moiiB, J. E. Seagram. John J. Hyland, G. R. Tompkins. John Lowe and a number of locally owned horses. The two two-year-olds recently purchased by N. Maefarlane of Montreal have come in for a groat deal of admiration. Cliff Stream, which is by Clifford, is ready to race, while Moss Rock, by Rockton. will be fit by opening day. Harry Shannon has these colts in charge. Montreal sportsmen are now purchasing a better class of horses than formerly and there will be many good ones owned hereabouts within a year or two. Nominees for the Kings Plate are being given stiff work now and some promising trials have been seen.
