READY FOR HUNT MEET AT PIMLICO. Baltimore, Md., August 28. With the opening of the Maryland United Hunts meeting, August 31, right at hand, Pinillco is taking on tup businesslike look that characterizes the modern race track on the eve of an important sporting season. The stables in Iho rear and to the north of the grandstand have been reserved for the patrons of Marylands foremost amateur race meeting, and here are to be found thoroughbreds from Massachusetts. New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania. District of Columbia and Virginia, as well as representatives of the local contingent. Col. Ral Parr has returned from Canada, where that good jumper. Ticket of Leave, won enough to keep the stable on velvet for some time to come. Ticket of Leave was a rank disappointment to his former owner and breeder, the late Robert Neville, who could never understand the persistent way the son of Russell and Release II. had of falling at his jumps. Now. thanks to the painstaking care of William Garth, his trainer, there is no safer fencer to be found anywhere. On the last day of the meeting the Maryland United Hunts has planned to give an informal subscription sportsmens dinner in the new Pimlico club-bouse. Otiicials of the National Steeplechase and Hunt Association, the Hunts committee and the directors of the Maryland Jockey Club will be specially invited guests, and those asked to subscribe includo prominent sportsmen from all parts of the country. The war department will be represented by Maj. Henry T. Allen and Lieut. Charles K. Rockwell, who have been especially asked to attend. The affair promises to be an interesting and festive oeca-easion, and should prove a pleasing finale of what promises to bo a successful meeting. The new Pimlico clubhouse has just been opened, an announcement that will bo pleasing news to those wishing to be near the horses. Among those who have engaged rooms Tor the meeting is Harry S. Page, one of the stewards of the National Steeplechase and Hunt Association.
