VEITCH JUMPERS REACH PIMLICO. Baltimore, Mil.. August 29. Everything at Pim-lico is in lino conditiou for the opening on Thursday of what promises to be the best meeting ever given by the Maryland United Hunts. Silas Veitch is among the new arrivals with seven steeplechasers, anil has been assigned quarters near the Clyde and Walden barns. Old Herculoid is working well. The Pfizer gelding is a grand looker and lie appears to be as good as he ever was. The piece of plate that will go to the owner of the winner of the Harry Harwood Memorial Steeplechase has been completed. Its outer rim shows an excellent reproduction of the Plmllco course, including the water jump, and the post and rails and plank fences. Two extra races will bo given on Thursday and Saturday for army officers, one a mile fiat race and the other a steeplechase for three-year-olds and upward. The officers are said to have some promising young jumpers that have been carefully schooled at the various posts during the past season. The clerk of the course, F. J. Bryan, and Herman P. Conkllug. who will act as clerk of the scales, reached Baltimore tonight.
