CLEARWATER, hard ridden all the way, closed a gap early and, saving ground on the stretch turn, wore CHARTIER down in the last sixteenth. CHARTIER showed the most speed from a fast beginning, but tired near the end. PATRUCHE was well up throughout and finished gamely, but tiring. KOSSINI ran grcf.n and probably will improve. SUN KIST showed speed and tired in the stretch. CHIEF JACKSON and DREDAVELL went well. Scratched 970S9 Steeplejack, 112. HELENE was a sufferer from bumping at the start and closed a big gap into a fast going second. BEN PRIOR came from far back in the last quarter and finished gamely. EMILY LEE showed speed, but quit in the stretch. INCISION went, fairly well. TIM JUDGE dropped out of contention at once. BOB CO. was forced back in the first quarter.
