GETTING READY FOR LATONIA OPENING. Cincinnati, 0., October 9. The program book for the stakes and overnight races to be run during the first week of the Latonia Jockey Clubs fall meeting, which will begin October 10 and end November 11, is now being distributed to horsemen. The feature for the opening day will be, as usual, the Latonia Inaugural Handicap, with ,500 added. The distance is one mile and a sixteenth. This event, for three-year-olds ami upward, will attract the best of the older horses and some of the greatest three-year-olds now in training. I.esides there will be five purses, all with 1911.sh00 added. Arrangements have been made for entries to close Friday, October 13, from 9 oclock a. m. to 12 m., at Churchill Downs, in Louisville, and then the box, as usual, -will remain open at the otlice of the Latonia Jockey Club until Saturday morning, October 14, at 10:30 oclock a. in. The otlicials for the fall meeting are: Presiding judge, Charles F. Price; associate judge, John B. Dillon; racing secretary and handicapper, K. W. Maginn; clerk of the course. J. B. Campbell; starter. Mars Cassidy; timer, George Llndenberger; paddock judge. Dr. b. J. Phelps; superintendent, John M. Keegan. The entire meeting will be under, the direction of John Hachmeister, secretary-treasurer and general manager, assisted by President Harvey Myers. Practically every prominent stable contributing to the success of the present meeting at Churchill Downs will be at Latonia. Manager Hachmeister is enthusiastic over the prospects of the Latonia meeting. He is particularly Jubilant over the outlook for a great race in the Latonia Endurance Stakes at two miles. Now that Governor Gray is again in active training. Interest has Increased amazingly In this long-distance event at Latonia. Messenger Boy is also an eli"Ible for this race, which Is a handicap and will permit Secretary Maginn to so adjust the weights that the contest will bo anything hut a one-sided alTair. Amoug other good horses likely to go to the post in this event are Meridian. Pinkola. Starbottle. Swanuanoa. Countless, Stone Street, Cherryola, Forehead. Royal Report, Star Charter, Volthorpe, High I riyate. Any Port and Azo. The Latonia Endurance Stakes was won last fall by Capt. E. B. Cassatfs Cmtrella.
