1 s : ? . . ? I ? f- r" i FURTHER DEPLETION OF AMERICAN STUDS. Lexington. Ky., October 14. John E. Madden said this afternoon that he has decided to sell fifty of his thoroughbred broodmares in Australia and that lie will go to that country with them. He is planning to leave here in December. Ho is now In corre- spoudenee with reference to shipping rates. Phil T. Chinn, Catesby Woodford and Johnson N. Camden are also making preparations to send about three carloads of thoroughbreds to Australia. It if likely that Phil Chinn will make the trip with them. They -will, it is expected, go iu November. John Mackey and George Miller, who have just returned to New York from Germany, where fifty odd mares and "weanlings from the Elraciidorf Farm were sold in Septcmlier for an average of a, head, are expected here shortly to consult with Mr. Haggin concerning the shipment of all of the wean- lings now at Elmcudorf to England. It is the plan to send them over in November and keep them at a placo near Newmarket until next July, when they will be sold as yearlings. The purpose in sending them this fall is to have them thoroughly acclimated by sale time. There are unverified minors here to the effect that Rock Sand and u band of tho best mares at August Belmonts Nursery Stud are soon to go to Franco. Col. Milton Young has consigned fifty head of yearlings and broodmares to the November Sale of the Powers-Hunter Company.
