WORTH MEETS WITH DEFEAT CRACK JUVENILE FINISHES UNPLACED IN STAKE RACE AT LOUISVILLE. I i Lady Lightning- Is Easy Winner, with Sonada Second j and Ursula Emma Third Churchill Downs Highly Successful Meeting Ends. Louisville, Ivy.. October 11. The Louisville Racing Associations high class meeting terminated this afternoon with one of the best offerings of the sea-sen. Local lovers of racing turned out in large-nmnbers, the attendance being the second lest of the meeting. Secretary Jaspers getaway offering was a splendid one originally, but rain which fell this morning twanged track conditions considerably and served to mar the card by withdrawals. The fifth race was declared off and a now race substituted. The Iroquois Handicap for two-year-olds brought together the recognized champions of the west, including the sensational Worth. He essayed the task of conceding much weight to his formidable opposition and met with defeat. The winner of the event turned up in Lady Lightning. Sonada, which was added at a late hour, landed second money, with Irsula Emma third, Wheelwright fourth and Worth lif tii. Noses separated the quartet behind the winner. Worth suffered interference in the running, but the smart set attributed his defeat in the maiu to the going and his heavy Impost. Sonadas performance was a brilliant one. Falcada scored his third straight victory in the closing dash. Union Jack also proved a repeater when he beat a good band in the second. Bonne Chance afforded J. N. Camden to get a purse in tho opener. Sam Barber was much the best in the third and Rubia Granda stoutly supported by the Chicago contingent, accounted for the substitute race. The stake blanks for the Juarez meeting were distributed to horsemen today and met with favor. Six horse cars, besides sleepers, day coaches and baggage cars, will make up the special train that will leave here Monday for Mexico City. icneral Manager Winn stated today that the Churchill Downs meeting had come up to the managements expectations in every particular. He feels l especially elated over the clean sport that has been furnished. W A special train with about 200 turfmen left tonight for Cincinnati. John Hachmeister will remain over until tomorrow and finish up his duties in connection with the Churchill Downs meeting. He will be at Latonia track in, the afternoon.
