; ; ; ; i . I ; f FURTHER DETAILS OF CHARLESTON VENTURE. Lexington. Ky.. October 14. W. F. Schulte, former president of the New Louisville Jockey Club, and widely known in American turf circles, wafl here today en route to Louisville from Charleston, S. C. where it has been decided to race sevcuty-fiv days beginning January 10. The meeting will be given by a new organization, of which Francis J. Pons will bo general manager, under the charter of tho old Charleston Racing Association, but at a new plant, said Mr. Schulte. "For tho construction of the plant, over which I will have supervision In the building, we have pur- chased 10S acres of land adjoining the gornment riHe rauge and to which there is a double street cae t line running over a paved lioulevard. The grand-i stand, stables and track will be duplicates of thos at Jacksonville. It is intended to spend 25,001 in the construction, which will begin as soon as t can get back there from Louisville, whither I am going to arrange for men for certain departments of the work. There are to be eight hundred stalls. Eighty per cent, of the stock in the association is owned by Charleston people and tho merchants oC the city are enthusiastic over the outlook. Thero will be no purso of less than 00 and it has been; decided to give twenty stakes of from ,000 ta ,500 value, with possibly a ,000 Derby."
