WILD FERN began very slowly but, after closing a great gap, came around on the outside "in the stretch and, standing a long drive gamely, won easiug up. LAAVN ran well and outstayed ELSEAAHBRE for second place. The latter set the pace to the stretch and tired badly at the end. BURI made up ground and ran a good race.
