RAIN SPOILS PIMLICO CARD PROGRAM RIDDLED BY WITHDRAWALS BECAUSE OF CHANGED TRACK CONDITIONS. Alfred Noble Scores a Surprising Victory in Green Spring Valley Steeplechase Moisant Wins at Odds of 1 to 60 Over One Lone Opponent. Baltimore. Md., October 21. The Maryland Jockey Club offered its patrons a splendid program for this afternoon, but rain came this morning and converted the track into a sea of mud. with the result that scratches were numerous. The only close finish of the afternoon came with the running of the fourth race, in which All Red just managed to last long enough to stall off Moncrcifs challenge and win by a short head. There were two steeplechases, one a selling handicap over the two-miles course and the other the Green Spring Valley Steeplechase over the two and a half miles course. The latter was a ,500 added event and it brought out one of the best fields of jumpers that ever ran over the Pimlico course. The result proved a great surprise, the winner turning up in the rejuvenated Alfred Noble, which beat The Welkin in easy fashion. His impost of 108 pounds anchored the favorite, Algie, which has never shown any particular liking for heavy going. The first race was scratched down to a two-horse affair between Moisant and Mileage, with the former ruling a prohibitive favorite, the odds being 1 to 00. Moisant only cantered and won with much in reserve. S. C. Hildrcth did not profit by Restigouchcs victory in the second race, as the horse was run up 05 by J. L. McGiuriis. Jockey Shilling piloted three winuers Moisant, Restigouchc and Maromara. A number of horsemen who have been racing at Laurel came over this afternoon to attend the sale of Mrs. L. A. Livingstons horses previous to the races. Among them were R. D. Williams. Jule Garson, H. J. Kennedy, W- O. Scully, Willie Martin and M. Burns. William Oliver will tomorrow ship the horses owned by J. S. Tyree to Bcnuing, whore they will go into, winter quarters. J. Simon Healy goes from here to Norfolk Wodups-dav with the Cassatt string. T. J. Healer, A. . G. Weston and James Fitzsimmons will go on Thursday, while John Whalen and S. C. Hlldreth will leave on Saturday next. William Garth goes from here to Laurel to race the meeting out, after which he will ship to Norfolk.
