DERBY TO IRISH GENTLEMAN. Biggest Crowd in History of Sport in Northwest Sees Running of Race. Spokane, Wash., October 21. Irish Gentleman today won the .,000 Lake City Derby at Coeur dAlenu before the largest concourse of people ever assembled on a regular race course in the northwest. Admirably handled by J. Callahan, he wrested the lead from Pawhuska on the backstrotch and was never afterwards headed, winning by a comfortable margin from Dutch Rock and Pawhuska, with the others beaten off. He received a tre-mendoim ovation on returning to the stand and a handsome lloral saddle was placed upon his back. ttnfleld won the sprint race from Terns Trick, picking him up at the paddock and running away from him from then: to the finish. Meadow, starting for the first time In mouths, ran a slashing race and probably will do from now on.
