FIRST THOROUGHBREDS REACH CHARLESTON. Charleston, S. C, November 24. The first thoroughbreds to arrive in Charleston, preparatory to the opening of the winter meeting of the Charleston Pair and Racing Association, which Is now constructing a 50,Q00 racing plant at West, just north of the city, arrived here yesterday morning, and- are now quartered in stables, several hundred of which have spruug up as if by magic during the past week. It was stated yesterday by Assistant Secretary Cas-sidy, of the Association, that additional horses would arrive in the city In large numbers during the next two weeks. The first batch of racers to arrive here consisted of two geldings well known to horsemen throughout tho country. They are Frank Ruhstaller and Descendant, the property of H. G. Bedwell, who at present has about twenty-four thoroughbreds at Jamestown. The two geldings came to Charleston in a box car from Coeur dAlene, Idaho, having made the journey of 3,800 miles In fifteen days. They were accompanied by an attendant.
