ARASEE TAKES HANDICAP BEATS IRISH GENTLEMAN AND OTHERS IN WELL CONTESTED RACE AT JUAREZ. Close Finishes Mark Decision of Several Races M. J. Winn Coming North to Spend Christmas Holidays. ; t j.-f. El Paso, Tex., December 21. Close finishes wero the rule in nearly nil the races decided at Juarez this afternoon. The feature went to Arasee. ably handled by T. Rice. The race was a handicap at seven furlongs and a field of seven faced the barrier. Immediately it was sprung Irish Gentleman assumed the lead and maintained it until near the finish. Arasee, under Rices vigorous handling, got up to win by half a length. Butter Ball finished a fast-coming third. Jim Basey, after following Irish Gentleman closely for five furlongs, gave It up In the final quarter of a mile. M. Geist and D. Stahl wired for stalls for twelve head of horses that are due to arrive tomorrow from some point in Kansas. T. Goulding purchased jockey Dennys contrac from W. St. Vincent today. General .Manager Matt J. Winn will leave tomorrow for Louisville, where be will spend the holidays. On bis return he will take a trip to Mexico City to look over the situation with a view of giving it spring meeting there at the close of Uu Junrea meeting. Harvey Comstock, a member of the firm of Lawrence and Comstock, the well-known California breeders, was a visitor at Juarez today.
