NOTES OF THE ENGLISH TURF. Sir William Cookes horses in training, including Hornets Beauty, Siahsud, Raise the Wind, and Grey Spinner, have arrived at Felix Leachs stable at Newmarket, where they will be trained in future. D. Slaher and J. II. Startin are going to Switzerland, as usual, this winter, as is their compatriot, Lucien Lyno. William Griggs also goes to Switzerland, and Walter Griggs to the South of France. Trigg intends to do some hunting from Cheltenham. J. Evans, the well-known flat race jockey, who during the past four months has been riding in Germany with marked success, was present at the last Kempton Park meeting. A fortnight ago he broke Ids loft collar-bone, but this has nearly mended. Evans, who rides at 104 pounds, returns to Germany next year. Volodyovski, bought by Sir. II. Remy owner of the Neuvillotte Stud, has arrived in France in very good condition. The journey has interfered in no wav with the fine state of Florizels son. Hopes are entertained on the other side of the Channel that he may prove a brilliant successor to Flying Fox. whoso sudden death had left a vacancy difficult to fill. The famous mare Signorinetta, winner of the Epsom Derby and Oaks of 190S, was among the horses listed to be sold at the recent Newmarket December sales in England, but when bidding on her stopped at 9,000 she was withdrawn, the report being that her reserve price was 0,000. As she has since been sold privately to Lord Rosebcry it is fair to presume it was for 0,000, or close to it.
