NOTES OF THE TURF. P. Molelt, a Canadian bookmaker, lias arrived at Juarez and may cut in as a layer of odds shortly. Because Christmas falls on Monday, the practice of having no racing on that day of the week, will not be followed at Juarez next week. The program calls for racing every day in the week at the Juarez track until January S. in order to provide for the decision of a holiday card on Monday, January 1, as well as on Christmas day. Hagios Cope writes in The London Sportsman of the American-bred Sweeper II., H. B. Duryeas good Broomstick colt: "He traces back in his top line, via lien Brush, Bramble and imported Bonnie Scotland to Iago, Don John, Waverley and Whalebone sire of Sir Hercules and of Camel. Sir Hercules became the sire of Birdcatcher and Camel the sire of Touchstone, and as these lines have produced many Derby winners, it should not be surprising if the Waverley branch of Whalebone gave us one in Sweeper II."
