IMPROVEMENTS FOR JAMESTOWN TRACK Norfolk Va July 12 Manager Bob Levy of the Jamestown Jockey Club has claimed the dates from November 11 to 30 for the fall meeting here this season and will make many improvements to the plant during the summer months He will arrive in Norfolk on or about the first of August to start operations in getting the plant into condition Two or three hundred new stalls will be erected at the race track proper which will eliminate the neces ¬ sity of sending horses to tho Exhibition Grounds as at former meeting here These stalls will be built in the most approved matter directly back of the paddock paddockIt It is the intention of Manager Levy to increase many of his purses this fall and he will run several stakes during the meeting ranging in value from 1000 to 1500 A year ago the Norfolk meeting was carried on in opposition to the Kentucky tracks As Kentucky racing will close this fall on November 0 the arrangements of dates will enable the Nor ¬ folk management an opportunity of getting many Kentucky horses here to race The steeplechase course and track will be put in good condition dur ¬ ing the summer so as to provide against the fall rains The track drainage will receive special attention Practically the same officials will otlicl ate as at the spring meeting
