ST LOUIS RACING PLANNED PROGRAM CONTEMPLATES RESUMPTION OF SPORT ON SEPTEMBER NEXT Promoters of Universal Exposition Company Inaugu ¬ rate Campaign for Selling 100000 Tickets to Provide Funds for Carrying Plans Through St Louis whore there has been no racing since the slimmer of 305 may witness a revival of the port on conservative lines the coming fall if the plans of the promoters of the recently organized t nlversal Exposition Company of that city material izc The St Louis Times of Wednesday contained this announcement announcementHorse Horse racing on a big scale will be revived by the Universal Exposition Company which had its tentative program approved last night by the Ad ¬ visory lioard of Business Men The date of the opening of the new fair will be September 23 23Tho Tho Advisory Hoard instructed the Universal officials to sell 100000 tickets The 50000 raised In this way will be spent in putting on the fair and guaranteeing the prizes A whirlwind selling cam ¬ paign will be inaugurated at once to sell the tickets ticketsFirst First on the approved program is the racing feature which starts with an event of two miles and a quarter with a purse of 4000 for three yearolds and upwards No entrance or starting fee will be required in this event The horse racing vents will wind up with a twentymile race under army specifications A purse of 1000 will be the prize for this feature featureOllicials Ollicials of the Universal Company have taken advantage of several opportunities to instruct per ¬ sons that horse racing is not in violation of the law Even betting on horse races is permissible n long as books and pools are not made or stake ¬ holders drawn into the game Printed instructions jind rules will appear on the backs of tickets to the I ulvcrsal grounds so spectators will not lie misled misledHorses Horses will be the main attractions at the lirst of the revived St Louis fairs After the horse riioing will come the horse shows The shows will iflude the regular horse shows with entries from 11 pnvtsof the United States and Canada Then the St Louis Hiding Club will hold exhibition shows while the commission men at the National Stock Yards are planning an Immense mule show showAutomobile Automobile and motorcycle racing will follow the horse racing and many of the famous auto racers including Disbrow will appear on the large speedway Fancy stunts in automobile racing and driving by selected teams are on the program programThe The fair will be revived on the tirst day with a pemMal parade of the participants In the fair The cavalcade will move around the automobile speed ¬ way and will show the progress of transportation sind means of locomotion since the lirst fair Oxen will head the big parade a team of mules hitched to an oldstyle coach will follow while horses in in oldstyle hack will vie with the old high wheel lilcycle trailed by the latest pattern of automobiles ind aeroplanes Aviation stunts will till in the liicgrnm after the various days of racing
