NO STARS IN THE WHITNEY STRING THE PAST SEASON 4 . 4. Twenty-two hoi ses started in H. P. Whitneys colors on this side of the Atlantic in 1912 and when the season ended only six of them remained in his ownership, they being Bashti. Pankhiirst. Tumble. Discovery. iplain Jinks and Coronet. Except Bashti. all were raced for sale and many won handsomely for other owners alter passing from bis- possession. In fact, these horses won in all 8,481. of which Mr. Whitneys share was as shown iii the table below. Eleven of them sold were fillies of the best breeding and should prove valuable brmxlmares when their lacing days are over. They are all needed in our breeding, as are many more of their kind and if the Whitney noocy of 1912 is to lie followed up for some years lo come it cannoi fail to be alteuded with extremely useful results in the future.
