Dave Montgomery, starting for the first time at this meeting, caught the judges eye first in thei fifth race, with 40 to 1 laid against his chances. Ho was always close up in the runuing and wore Tim Judge down in the last stride. Hanly. a frequent winner on the Kentucky tracks last seas.,11. won the final race of the dav at the liberal odds of 10 to 1. He just did manage to last to win from Mycenae by a nose. The latter was also a long shot, having been held at the liberal odds of 12 to 1. Little Jockey McDonald scored his maiden victory on Velie Forty in the second race. The* filly bore out on the turn in entering Hie stretch into the good going while her most formidable opponents were running along the rail where the track was heavy. With more experience. McDonald will probably dew-lop one of the best apprentice riders of the year. Prince Conrad was taken sick just before post time for the fourth race and was excused from starting by the stewards.
