GOVERNOR SULZERS LETTER Albany N Y May S Governor Sulzers letter to Commissioner of Police Waldo and the officials of Queens Kings Nassau and New York counties warning them that he would hold them strictly accountable for violations of the antisambling laws when horse racing is revived is as follows followsInformation Information having been brought to my atten ¬ tion that horse racing will shortly be renewed in your comity I hereby direct you to take all neces ¬ sary measures and precautions to enforce the laws to use all the means within your power and author ¬ ity to secure the strict enforcement of the laws in regard to gambling or any other illegal unlawful and improper practices or acts relating to pool sell ¬ ing bookmaking or any other kind of gambling and further to prevent all wagers bets or stakes made 1o depend upon any horse race in the nature of gaai blinc countyYour within your county Your attention Is directed specifically to article I section 9 of the State Constitution and to article SS of the Penal Law entitled Gambling es ecially under said article to sections 9S i 901 and 97 of the Penal Law LawYou You will be held strictly accountable for the per ¬ formance of your duty in the premises
