WILL OPEN INFORMATION BUREAU. Charleston, S. C. October 20. Owing to numerous inquiries from prospective visitors who intend coming to Charleston to attend the races, the Charleston Fair and Racing Association is planning to open an information bureau for the housing of the large crowd expected here this season. This bureau will lie in charge of two experts in this line, who will index- all inquiries and have tabulated a schedule of all the hotels, boarding houses, furnished and unfurnished apartments and rooms to let. The Chamber of Commerce and the Real Estate Exchange have signified their willingness to cooperate with this department in every way. Charleston is noted for its mild and delightful climate, the temperature rarely falling below 50 degrees even in cold weather. Numerous artesian wells, which abound in this city, are noted for their medicinal properties. The amusements of Charleston are numerous. The fishing and hunting season lasts the whole winter long. That famous pleasure resort, the Isle of Palms, will keep open during the winter. Aarious improvements and alterations are well under way at the track and will be finished by November 1,. on which date the painters will commence their work of freshening up things. The grounds have been prepared for the County Fair, which will be held from November 17 to 22. inclusive. The-lirst horses to arrive are those of AA C. Westmoreland, Avho came from Richmond, Va., with Clothes Brush, Cuttyhunk and Skeets. A large number are expected to reach here early next month. The following minor officials have been appointed: Timer, AV. AV. Lyles; Patrol Judge, G. L Hall; Afeteriuary, Dr. McCarthy. Charles Campau will have charge of the gates and of the ticket arrangements. Entries for the stakes listed Tor decision during the seventy-eight days of racing at Palmetto Park, beginning December 1, are coming in generous lmtehes from horsemen in all sections of the country who intend campaigning here this winter. Among those now at Latonia who have made liberal entries to the stakes and intend to send extensive representation to Charleston are Lew Marion, J. C. Calm, T. J. Brown. J. B. Respess, J. T. Wre, Adair and Baker. A. H. Brandt. M. C. Moore, W. A. Kirwin, C. S.. Wilson. L. Tauber, Grefer and Bender. J. S. Evermaii, J. AA Schorr, J. II. McCarreu and AVilllam Walker.
