Walker has sold Scarlet Pimpernel to Judge J. L I.ehrens. of Charleston. Archie Ziiiimcr will race Caugh Hill and the rest or his horses in Kentucky this spring. From now on to the end of the Palmetto Park meeting Tuesdays and Fridays will be ladies days. Jockey .1. McCahey is spending a few weeks at his home in Philadelphia prior to the opening of I he eastern racing season. Jockey C. Irwin will accompany Discovery and Dr. Jackson to Venezuela as soon as those two horses, left behind at Charleston by J. Todd on account of sickness, are in condition for shipment. A. L. Kirby is convalescing at El Paso from the effects of the attack of pneumonia with which he was stricken not long ago. lie will train the horses of William Oerst this season if his health permits. Dr. 15. J. Meyer,, a Cincinnati sporting writer, died at his home in that city recently. Dr. Meyer was at one time a practicing physician, hut was compelled by illness to seel: outdoor life. Barney Schreihcr has sold to George Wingfiehl, of Keiio. Mr. Wingfiehl has Deutschland at llie head of his stud. II. T. P.atchler, one. of the representative Texas owners at Juarez, has been notified by the secretary of the Dallas Slate Fair Association that there wiil lie no thoroughbred races in connection with th-fair nest October. Horsemen who are in the habit of taking part in the Dallas meeting are at a loss to account for this decision of the association.
