H0RR0N REPORTED AS WINDBROKEN. AVashingtou. D. C. March 23. -Amos Turney has fourteen horses at the Renning track iu charge of William M. .Martin. Horron. perhaps the star three-vear-old of last year, is training satisfactorily, but is wimlbroken. it is reported, as an aftermath of the fever he contracted on the Canadian circuit last season. Kloburne, a useful sort last year, is looking well. Probably the crack of the stable is the three-vear-old, Waterbass. Rustling Rrass, Crisco, Glint," a couple of maidens and two two-year-olds make up the rest of the Turney string. Captain Walker is also stabled at Renning with eight horses, including Bard of Hope. Isidora. Oak-hurst, Ambrose. Afterglow and three two-year-olds bv CvHades. that are remarkably good looking. A. Mathews will ride for Captain Walker during the coming season. Mike Daly is also at the track with fourteen. The star of the Daly string is Sand Bar, which has developed into one of the finest-looking horses in training, Max Smart is training ten, mostly army horses. John Whalen arrived last week with his string, headed by that sterling performer. Buskin. These horses wintered at Gravesend. Charlie Fairbrother will ride for the Whalen stable. Willie Shields has two tine two-year-olds which he bought from John Madden, one being by Star Shoot and the other by Plaudit. He is getting these ready lor an early start. Shields will also have Joseph Marrones horses, now at Charleston Salon, Votes and El Mahdi. Sam Hildreth is training what the wise fellows say is the fastest horse iu America. Tills is the four-year-old Vulcain IV., by Rock Sand Lady of the Vale, which raced with distinction iu France last season. Jockey Derontle will ride for tin? Oak Ridge Stable. His contract was bought from II. G. Bedwell for ,500. Dcronde was about the best lightweight rider at Charleston this winter even better than J. MeTaggart.
