In the Queensland Supreme Court an injunction was granted on the application of the South Brisbane Municipal Council against a continuance of horse racing on the P.risbane Cricket Ground at Woolloongabba. These grounds were granted as a recreation reserve, and their management was placed in the hands of trustees who. a King while ago. granted a lease to the South Brisbane Jockey Club to hold race meetings. For a number of years the South Brisbane councillors have put forth efforts to block racing on the grounds, their principal objection being to the night racing under electric light. The injunction took immediate effect and the electric light meetings have been abandoned.
