JUAREZ RACING IS FORMFUL FAVORITES ACCOUNT FOR FOUR PURSES AND LAYERS HAVE LOSING DAY. Kentucky Owners Win Half the Card with Knight of Pythias, Tempest and Helen Raybould Jockey Martin Suspended for Rough Riding. El Paso, Tex., December 8. With perfect weather aud the track rounding into normal condition, a large crowd of people saw the decision of a fairly good card that was provided by Secretary Jasper for the racing at Juarez this afternoon. It was ladies day and the promenade presented a pretty scene. The betting was spirited and the layers reported a loss on the days operations, as four favorites scored. Kentucky owners sent three winners to the post, while the remaining three races were won by westerners. The racing was keen, with several of the finishes closely contested. Mlnco Jinimie and Butter Ball had a stretch duel lasting throughout the final furlong and the former proved gamer. Envy essayed to make the pace, but quit badly opposite the paddock. In the fifth Day Day received a poor ride from jockey Small, "who had his mount under strong restraint in the early part, allowing Helen Raybould, the favorite, to open up a big gap. Wade MeLernore was an arrival today from his home in Albany, Tex. Mr. McLemore Is just recovering from a severe fall he had from his saddle horse three months ago. Jockey M. Matthews was suspended for five days on report of the patrol judge. Jockey E. Martin, for rough riding In the filth race, was suspended by the stewards for live days. That remarkably fast thoroughbred. Gilpy, tot three years a member of the W. G. Yanke siable, has finally been thrown into tho discard by that well-known owner. After the disappointing race of this one-time great sprinter the other day, owner Yanke iu disgust announced that anyone who wanted the gelding could have him for 00.
