OLD ROSEBUD WINTERING WELL. Showo No Sign of Lameness on Kentucky Farm After Successful Firing Operation. Louisville, Ky., December 8. Old Uosebud, Kentucky Derby winner of 1914 and idol of local turr lovers, Is wintering in lino shape lu-ar Lexington, according to reports. There now seems little doubt that the son of Uncle and Ivory Dels will be able to resuuio training next spring, and while he will be sunt alwut his work in moderation, it is believed he wilj again show the brilliant form that marked his two-year-old for.m and his Derby performance. Old Uosebud is taking it easy at the farm of John D. Carr in Fayette county and both Mr. Carr and the veterinary surgeon who has been treating him are confident that he will train again. Iu fact, Mr. Carr, at whose place he was turned out a year ago on account of trouble with the same leg, thinks that it looks better now than it did last winter. The ailing leg was blistered a year ago. Tills year it was fired, and Mr. Carr says he now shows not a trace of lameness. He is roughing it at the Carr farm uud is as hearty and rugged as a bear. He has spread and tilled greatly since last spring, and the former rather unprepossessing gelding is now a hahdsome horse. It is Mr. Carrs information that Old Itosebuds owners intend to take him up and put him in training about the first of the year. Few really high-c ass older horses were shown during the past season and should Old Uosebud train well It If ex-iected that he will ligiir? prominently in most of the rich events of the American turf. Aside from Old Uosebud. the best individuals aliove the juveniles during 1914 were Uoamer. Luke McLuke and possibly Pennant or Stromboli, all three-year-olds. No topnotch performers were shown among thu older horses. Croat Britain had lilte trouble with the opposition he met in Canada, but was not well tested, not appearing against any real stars. Of the live great three-year-olds mentioned, Uoamer and Stromboli were the only ones to retire in sound condition. Should all come upon the turf next year In lit condition it reeins that their chief opposition for the big stakes will come from the three-year olds developed from this years star juveniles.,
