GENESEE VALLEY BBEEDEBS ORGANIZE. Geneseo. N. Y.. Becemlier 22. — In order to improve i- Genesee Valley horseflesh, and not for the pur-IM.sc - of making money, lovers of the thoroughbred i in Livingston County have banded together and the • iw-cssary papers for incorporating the Genesee Val-].v I- Horse-Breeders Association are now under preparation, preliminary to applioation to in-or- 0**l is to lie a membership corporation, hedged in 11 with every practical means for preventing anyone e from directing the purimses to a scheme for money making Three broodmares of championship quality y have already been presented to the breeders association - and one of them has been shipped to this country from a great distance. It is understood that t the foundation stock for the hrci-ders association is s i.. be distributed among its members without cost I olio- than a ti -d minimum charge to meet the .iM-nses Incidental lo shipment. There will lie a small initiation f-e and small annual dues |o malic a up a fund lo meet the incidental expenses of the e association. Anv farmer who is equipped with pasture ■- etc. to insure proper tare of a marc, and 1 i . ■ 11 1 1 J - 1 t ■ I whose general reputation indicates that he feeds his stock well, may become a member of the organi-r zation. While there is still plenty of room for improve-s inent. it cannot be said that Genesee Valley horses have not already won a more than state-wide reputation, along one line at least, aud that is the line of hunting mounts. They have been bred here for that especial purpose for several generations back until they have combined Arabian slimness in tlie forepart of the animal, with the powerful haunches of a part-draft, ami take to rough jumping and scrambling through gullies full of lo«ise shale, brush and rolling stones with all the willingness of so many chamoix. If the proposed improvement was for breeding horses hereabouts into better fox-hunters, no ad- vantage would be noticeable, but it is general pur- pose breeding that is contemplated, and the co-oper- ation of every farmer or hunter ill the valley who is an admirer of fine horses is anticipated. __
